"Shadow Farming" was a collaboration between KYLE b. co. and Nick Carter.
It was commissioned by Providence, Rhode Island’s Department of Arts, Culture + Tourism on the occasion of PVD Fest 2018.
The installation was comprised of 31 unique pieces — 20 vinyl monoprints and 11 aluminum panels — hung from wires and streetlight poles across five blocks of downtown Providence.
The 20 monoprints were made of oil ink on virgin PVC vinyl. The 11 aluminum panels were etched and cut with a CNC router. They were installed with grommets and zip ties.
At various moments over the course of the month-long installation, the artists engaged in a performance. As some of the monoprints became wrapped over their wires due to high winds, the artists used a 23.2 ft telescoping extension pole to flip the prints back over.
